The top of this page has a checklist with links to everything you need to complete, along with some optional items you can do to spruce your properties up. The big tasks are:

• Upload your character art and your candy icon
• Choose a house for your character to live in (you can skip this if you got an apartment)
• Decorate your house & door (optional)

When you upload your character art, there's a list of fun little animation effects you can choose from, and a solid selection of sound effects for when your trick or treat image is revealed.

I have a whole system that pulls all this data from the server, directly into the game build so it's important you get all your required files uploaded. If you don't, your house is going to sit empty, and the users who applied and didn't get in will be very cross with you.

I've provided a really simple decorating tool for houses and apartment hallways, so if you are short on time, it's a fast and easy option. Be sure and than @raviolibox, @serenefalconer and @mayalacookie for helping me make these decorations!

For advanced users (who have a house), you can also draw on top of the house artwork and make it look how you want. Just be sure to read all the directions, because this method is a little more advanced. You will also need to create an image layer to show the game engine where your light sources are, and a layer where you draw rectangles over any items the player shouldn't be able to walk through.

However you decorate it is MANDATORY that you play a little test version of the game that ensures players can actually reach your door. Any houses that forget this step will be reset to factory default when the game launches!

As for the game itself, I've been making a lot of major strides with it in the past week.

The core gameplay side is about 98% done. Players can walk around, interact with houses, and all that good stuff. It supports point and click controls, keyboard input and gamepads, so you can play it however you want!

In-game art assets are maybe 75% complete. I'm finishing up the last few ground tiles I need to get the basic maps generated right now.

For the town maps, I have a layout all designed and ready to run through an algorithm that will paint it inside a tile map file (all the roads, curbs sidewalks, rivers, etc, get filled in for me), which I can go through and do touch-ups in to make it feel a little more natural. I just need to get the last of those mandatory ground tiles finished.

I have a solid crew working on music, with a few tracks already finished. Hoping to start plugging all of that in next week.

Between @raviolibox and myself, we already have 6 playable characters finished, with more to come, so that's exciting.

If everything goes to plan, I should have a fully playable alpha build finished in the next couple of days, just waiting for all the final art and music to roll in.
